Burtle

A warm welcome to the Burtle Village Web Site, here you will find information about our village. The site provides information about both our history as well as present day life along with providing updates on future activities.

Burtle is located in the beautiful county of Somerset in an area of outstanding natural beauty. The area has been farmed for thousands of years originally salt beds and nowadays it provides good agricultural land to sustain many livestock farms.

There is a thriving local community within our village with people socialising in many different ways, Café Burtle provides the opportunity to catch up with friends and some of the many local groups have pages on our website.

The Village Hall provides the opportunity to get together and many of the activities in the village take place here. The Church is a welcoming place to either take a quiet few minutes on your own or take part in more formal gatherings.

News from Somerset Waste Partnership

Recycling and rubbish collections will start daily at 6am from now on due to the high temperatures.

Please ensure your bins and boxes are all out in time for the early start (and no earlier than the night before), and note that some collections times may change.

The new start time will continue until cooler weather returns.

To help crews collect your waste, please:

* Sort and roughly segregate materials in boxes without using carrier bags.
* Rinse all containers and squash all but glass and aerosols.
* Cut up all large card and flatten all cardboard boxes.

Crews have been reminded to keep the noise down; apologies in advance for the sound of glass and cans.

Quick reminder on plastic …

Plastic bottles are the only plastics taken at the kerbside; household and food plastic pots, tubs and trays are taken at all 16 recycling sites.

Tetra Paks, other beverage cartons and single-use plastic-lined coffee cups are taken at 12 recycling sites.
