The trust deed states

‘the object of the charity is the provision and maintenance of a village hall for use by the inhabitants of the area of benefit without distinction of political. religious or other opinions, including use for meetings, lectures and classes, and other forms of recreation and leisure-time occupation, with the object of improving the conditions of life for the inhabitants’ The Trust deed governs the appointment of trustees and the management of the charity. Seven trustees may be elected at the annual general meeting each year In addition four local organisations have had a right to nominate a trustee. Three additional organisations have been added to the trust deed during 2014 to ensure that all groups currently active within the village have equal rights to nominate a trustee. In addition there is one ex-officio trustee the Chairman of Burtle Parish Council. Sadly, not all of the organisations choose to make a nomination and it is often difficult to find seven elected members.

Burtle organisations entitled to nominate a trustee are:

  • Burtle Burtle Amateur Dramatic Players
  • Burtle Babies Mother and Toddler Group
  • Burtle Garden Club
  • Burtle Harvest Home
  • Burtle Parish Council
  • Burtle Silver Band
  • Friends of Burtle Church

Each trustee serves for a period of one year and may be re-appointed at the Annual General Meeting. The trustees form the Management Committee of Burtle Village Hall which has the power to co opt up to two further trustees.

The Management Committee meets monthly, usually the second Tuesday of each month in the Village Hall. These meetings are open to the public.
